Rebroadcast Live Stream: Creating a Soul Support Doll
Drama-free Friday on YouTube Live was so much fun! I invite each of you to join me every Friday at 2pm Eastern where we hang out, chat and see what creative stuff shows up in my studio.
This week I showed how I create my Soul Support Dolls. After needle felting the body fabric, I use my sewing machine with free-motion stitching to doodle-stitch all over the felted fabric. I allow my muse to direct each part of the process. In other words, I just go with the flow. 🙂 The body is backed with batik fabric, stitched around the edges and stuffed with polyester fiber fill.
Each Soul Support Doll has a unique face created with a covered button or a stitched, stuffed fabric head. It's always fun to see what they look like. Sometimes I even end up with a “Bless Her Heart” face and then it becomes a huge challenge to save the face! 😉
After the face is attached, I add hair, ribbons, beads, charms and sometimes a fabric pocket with a little enclosed message.
