Have you started making your holiday cards yet? Are you having trouble finding an idea? Why not begin with a Gingerbread cookie cutter!
To begin this card I cut Watercolor Paper to 4″ x 5.25″. Next, I dotted spots of Molotow Resist Pen to protect the white paper that will later suggest snow flakes. As soon as the Molotow resist dried, I created the sky with Prang Watercolors in blue and turquoise.
While the background dried, I created the little house from altered scrapbook papers. (Check out this LIVE stream to see how I altered these papers.) When all the pieces of the house were ready, I glued everything together with Scotch Quick Dry Glue. TIP: When handling tiny pieces of paper, the QuickStik really helps.
To remove the resist pen from the background, I used a Pik-Up Rubber Cement Eraser.
I glued the house to the background and drew ornaments in the little windows with my Black Gelly Roll Pen and then embellished with my Metallic Pens. I added snow with a FineLine Bottle filled with White Createx Airbrush Paint. The perfect finishing touch to make the snow sparkle without the mess of glitter is Diamond Stickles.
The little Gingerbread boy cookie cutter is perfect for creating the cute little guy to welcome visitors into his home. He's made with more altered papers and embellished with the Wink of Stella Clear brush pen. To elevate him above the surface, I cut a smaller Gingerbread boy from brown Fun Foam and glued the layers together and then to the card.
To finish the card, I inked the edges with Archival Cobalt Ink, attached the card front to a Pre-folded card base and added a word from either the Holidays or Winter dies by Tim Holtz. It's easy to attach the watercolor card front to the card with 1/4″ Scor Tape.
You could use the house cookie cutter as a fun Christmas ornament pattern and the little Gingerbread boy would make adorable mini ornaments or tiny gift tags.
