Do you deal with a Holiday Hangover like me? 🙂 Getting back into a routine feels so good, but it takes work to get it reestablished! Being creative helps me. How about you? Leave a comment below and tell me what you do to get back into your “normal” routine. I'd love to read your answers.
I love this faux metal technique I accidentally discovered a few years ago because it works on so many surfaces. I began with an old worn out cigar box from my stash of stuff that deserved a new life!
I painted the box with 2 coats of Gesso. When dry, I added a coat of DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Worn Penny acrylic paint.
Next, I used Collage Pauge and a brush to apply pieces of Sewing Pattern Tissue all over the surface, leaving some gaps here and there. I like the way the tissue paper wrinkles and creates texture.
Once the surface is dry, I used Mustard, Yellow Gold and Walnut Tumble Dyes from SEI that I sprayed through Rectangular and Round Plastic Canvas. It creates the pitted metal look that I love.
For the last layer, I thinned some of my remaining precious Golden Cobalt Teal and washed it over the entire surface to create a patina effect.
On the next episode of Drama-free Friday I'll finish the project. I'd love for you to join me! I begin at 2pm EST every Friday.
Until next time ~
