I love Drama-free Fridays because I get to spend time with some of the nicest and most creative people around the world – a fact that still blows my mind!
Today it's all about painting fabric. The process is simple, but the results can look very complex and I love that! I begin with heavy weight muslin. My favorite is Roc-lon Muslin. Next, I choose the paint colors (Liquitex Basics with a few craft acrylics, too) and scrape them across the surface of the fabric. Because the paint is such a thin layer, it takes very little time to dry.
Next, I printed with white or black paint sponged onto Cedar Canyon Rubbing plates for some subtle background patterning.
Have you ever seen the patterned brayers by American Crafts? They are great for adding a graphic element in the next layer.
Several different Rubber stamps with ink or paint compliment the other layers of yumminess.
Last, but not least I drew designs with FineLine bottles filled with fluid acrylics. After letting everything dry, I heat set the wrong side of the fabric with my iron and then it's ready to Get Creative!
