We enjoyed a wonderful Drama-free Friday with the amazing mixed-media artist, Seth Apter! He was gracious enough to carve some time out of his incredibly busy schedule for a LIVE Creative Chat with all of us.

Seth is located in New York City where he finds inspiration every day as he walks around the city. His artwork has been shown in multiple exhibitions including just recently at Nails in the Wall until May 31, 2017 in Metuchen, New Jersey and Art Jam (May 19-June 6, 2017 in Princeton, NJ). You've probably seen Seth's art and articles in numerous magazines as well as his 2 books, The Pulse of Mixed Media and The Mixed-Media Artist (both published by North Light Books.) Seth has filmed 6 (and counting) DVD workshops with North Light Books and he is also an instructor at Pratt Institute in New York City. In addition to all that, Seth travels and teaches his workshops around the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and the UK!

As we chatted, Seth talked about his early creative memories, his favorite art supplies and his introduction into the online world of art books, journaling and a lot more. We were privileged to see some of Seth's art journal pages and he shared some of his newest rubber stamps from one of the companies he designs for, too. Be sure to check out Seth's blog for all of his products.

Be sure to watch the Creative Chat video to get the inside scoop on everything. 😉

After the Creative Chat with Seth, I showed a little of one of his background techniques. I watched his Card Play Mixed-Media Techniques for Small Works of Art DVD workshop and also Seth Apter's Top 10 Collage Principles DVD Workshop (I highly recommend both) in preparation for Drama-Free Friday. By the way, there are 2 more DVD workshops available – Photo Play – Techniques for Altering Photos with Paint and Ink and The Altered Book – 10 Mixed-media Techniques.

Below you can see the journal page background and a finished page based on Seth's easy to follow techniques.
