Draw Paint Print like the Great Artists – Review by Barb

Every afternoon my husband and I take a mini vacation. I really appreciate our time out for a cup of coffee or tea, a practice we've maintained for many years. It’s our time to download the day's events, talk about stuff or just spend time being together. I love going to our local bookstore where I can page through a new book or magazine while we chat.

I bought this book – Draw Paint Print like the Great Artists by Marion Denchars – by accident. As I was enjoying a coffee and leafing through the book, my husband somehow managed to juggle his cup which spewed its contents all over the table and the book. After mopping up the mess, and assessing the damage to the book, I realized that it’s a really good book! That was nice since I felt compelled to buy it since it was our mishap. 🙂

From author Marion Denchars –

“In this book I have chosen some of my favorite artists who have been an important influence on me, helping me to develop my own style over the years. By exploring their techniques, I began to understand the essence of their work and how they see the world around them.
Every artist learns by looking at the work created by others, and then picks up bits of that and makes their own art in their own way. Through the artists in this book, you will discover new working methods and new ways of exploring image making.
It may be something as simple as using scissors rather than a pencil, or being fascinated by a new shape or a playful exercise to take your imagination somewhere unfamiliar.
I hope you enjoy learning from these artists as much as I have, both over the years and in the making of this book.

Draw Paint Print is an activity book that makes learning about art fun. Although the book is geared toward kids, I think anyone looking to expand their knowledge of famous artists will find it beneficial. Through its pages, you’ll be introduced to many artists including Salvador Dali, Sonia Delaunay, Joan Miró, Wassily Kadinsky, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee, and Frida Kahlo.

If you have creative kids in your life, this would be a great gift to encourage their creativity. Even better, why not explore it with them. Spending time creating together is not only educational but also memory-building. Or, give yourself a fun, unique, easy-to-read treat. I think you’ll be glad you did!

You might also want to check out Let’s Make some Great Art by Marion Denchars. It’s an interactive coloring and activity book with an emphasis on fun, making the creation of art an integral part of the way you express yourself. Who doesn’t need more of that?

Be sure and join me for the next episode of Drama-free Friday which is happening on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2pm Eastern. I'll be joined by artist, Seth Apter for a Creative Chat. These chats are a fun opportunity for you to interact with my guests, ask questions and get to know more about their creative process. I really hope you can join us!

Until next time ~
