In case you missed the news, Mining Your Muse, a Mixed-media Workshop, starts Monday – July 18! On today's live stream I showed lots of Muses from the course and explained how Mining Your Muse came to be. It's going to be super fun and creative! There are live Show ‘n Share meetings each week during the class, too, where you can share your progress and ask questions. Sign up now!
After being “a-mused” for the first part of the show, I showed a new paper – at least it's new to me. 🙂 These Mixed-media papers are by Tattered Angels from their Origins collection. I chose to use the Flight and Nature sheets to create covers for a composition notebook.
I finger painted with Ken Oliver Color Bursts and water which made quick work of adding color to these beautiful papers. Once they were dry, I carefully applied a coat of varnish with a palette knife over the paper. This immediately began dissolving the pigment so I had to resist the temptation to go over the image more than once or twice.
When the varnish dried, I used my Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens (Big Brush style) to add extra color and detail. These blend easily with your fingers when applied over a coated surface. After gluing the papers to the composition notebook with Crafter's Pick Ultimate Glue, I gave everything a final coat of matte medium.
I love the way it turned out!
Have you used these lovely papers? If so, what have you done with them? You can always share your art with me @BarbOwenDesigns. I love seeing what you create!
Please join me each drama-free Friday at 2pm Eastern for our LIVE stream where we do something fun and chat, too. You're always welcome to join in.
Until next time,
