I’m loving the freedom and creativity in this Art Journal! If you’ve never tried making an Art Journal page, I really hope you will. It’s not hard and if you need a little convincing about that, watch this LIVE stream where I created this simple page. I started with some dinner plates (studio use only) and a pencil. After drawing around the plates to create large overlapping circles, I scrubbed on some color with my set of 12 Inktense Blocks. A wet brush dissolved the pigment. I added even more Inktense to achieve a stronger color. After drying, I used Zinc White Golden Fluid Acrylic paint and a brush to add loose brush shapes in each circular section.

While the page was drying, I split several cards from a deck of our Mandala Madness Inspiration Cards. It’s really easy to do by simply peeling the front away from the back. This allows you to use both sides of every card. BONUS! I used various circle punches to selectively and easily cut out parts of the Mandalas. I even used scissors to fussy cut out one of the Mandalas because I like its shape.

I attached the Mandalas to the page with Aleene’s Tacky Glue. Once the glue completely dried, I embellished the page with acrylic paint in a Fineliner Bottle as well as Posca Paint pens in black and white. A quote from my daily calendar satisfied my need for words on the page 😉 along with a few colorful paint splatters to tie the two pages together.

If you haven’t gotten your own Mandala Madness Inspiration Cards, what are you waiting for?? They’re so much fun to use for inspiration, for art, and for Mandalas, too!!
