Mixed-Media Fun Fabric
I always look forward to our HowToGetCreative.com show known as Drama-free Friday! In case you're new here, I invite you to join me each Friday at 2pm Eastern. You never know what craziness will happen during Drama-free Friday. 😉 By the way – we still have a VERY LIMITED supply of Fun Faces Rubber Stamps available. If you haven't ordered yet, now is a good time!
Before jumping into the mixed-media fabric, I showed a new book entitled The Art of Crayon by Lorraine Bell. Talk about some serious eye candy. Be sure to check it out!
To begin creating the mixed-media fabric, I pulled out a set of my art journal prompt cards that I created several years ago. It was a lot of fun to use the cards in a way I'd never tried before.
As I pulled a card, I either did what the card prompted, adapted the idea or just picked a new card. It was really a lot of fun and the cards caused me to do things that ordinarily I would never think of trying.
The fabric I used for this project is an off-white smooth heavy weight muslin. I never intend to wash these fabrics, so I didn't worry about using fabric paints or textile medium.
Some of the supplies used include:
- Fun Faces Rubber Stamps
- Sharpie Stained Fabric Markers
- Glitter Tumble Dye – Silver (don't faint!)
- Glitter Tumble Dye – Gold (again, don't faint!)
- Replacement sprayers for the Tumble Dyes
Please join me again Friday at 2pm Eastern. I have some special guests scheduled in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned for news. 😉 You don't want to miss them!
Until next time ~
